The following model explains how people move through change.

When change occurs, humans experience:
- Heightened stress
- Uncertainty
- Diminished Productivity
As change becomes accepted, humans:
- Regain sense of Direction
- Learn new Skills & Roles
- Begin to work in a new way
The 4 Phases of Change usually happen in sequence:
- Humans can move through the Phases quickly or slowly, and can often get stuck in one phase.
- In order to perform effectively, humans must get to the Commit Phase.
